Starting tomorrow, 1/26/21, WMS will have a slightly altered schedule for the remainder of the school year. We will revert back to having a home room to start the school day. To accomplish this we shortened passing time back to 4 minutes (as it was previous years). Students will start school 2 minutes earlier (7:58 am) and will be dismissed at the same time 2:46 pm. Class periods will stay the same length as they have been this year. We are hopeful this additional time in home room will help us better support our students. UPDATE from Mr. Buckley (AD) on WMS Boys Basketball Schedule. There will be 2 games (instead of 4) played in Watford City on Saturday, January 23rd. 7th grade 10 am MST 8th grade 11:15 am MST The games will be played at Watford City Middle School. Masks are required in their gym and there is a 500 person spectator limit. No concessions available. Game times with the 7th grade games with Miles City are as follows: Tuesday January 26th WMS 7th grade vs Miles City @ Miles City 4 pm Monday February 1st WMS 7th grade vs Miles City @ Glendive 4 pm (DCHS) ​

Play board games with my family What is your favorite outside activity? camping Why did you decide to work at WMS? I grew up in Glendive and have always had an attachment to this town. At the time the position at WMS became open, I was dating a man who lived in Glendive (who later became my husband). Thankfully, I got the job, and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. If you could be any cartoon character who would you choose and why? Fiona from Shrek. She is kind and accepting of other people, she is not perfect, and she doesn’t worry about what others may think of her. What is your favorite quote? “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Eleonor Roosevelt

WMS boys basketball practice begins tomorrow- 1/4/20 for 7th & 8th graders. Students must have a sports physical before they will be allowed to practice. 7th grade practice starts at 4 pm & 8th grade will be at 5:30 pm.

Just a reminder about the WMS Choir Concert tonight at 7 pm @ DCHS Auditorium. Students should have received 2 tickets for entry. Face coverings are required for all in attendance. Looking forward to a great performance! GO DEMONS!!!

Parent/Guardians, we have placed sign up sheets for Middle School boys basketball grades 7 and 8 in the office (6th grade will start in late February or early March). Please have your child sign up if they plan to participate. The first practice will be January 4, 2021. Students must have a physical and activity fees must be paid. We are trying to get a count of how many will be participating to determine staffing needs. Please encourage them to stop in and sign up this week. CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Heather Eckert- WMS Title Intervention Teacher for being selected as the November Staff member of the month at Washington Middle School! Mrs. Eckert genuinely cares for the students she serves and the staff she works with. She also is regularly the first to offer assistance to others when needed. Mrs. Eckert....YOU ROCK!!! #WMSDEMONS #GPSPRIDE #WMSAWESOMIZER #WMSSTAFFMEMBEROFTHEMONTH What was your favorite thing to do during the COVID shutdown? I loved all of our nightly family time. After all the work and school work was done for the day, we would all hang out together and watch a series together! It was nice to have a slower pace. :) What is your favorite outside activity? I love hiking outside and early morning walks with my dog Nala when it’s not too cold! In the summers, we love going to baseball games. Why did you decide to work at WMS? My husband and I both attended WMS as middle schoolers, so it’s really fun to be working there as teachers. We love our coworkers and students! If you could be any cartoon character who would you choose and why? My favorite cartoon character has always been Belle because I try to see the good in everyone and I love curling up with a good book! What is your favorite quote? “I trust the next chapter because I know the Author.” :)

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, 11/25/20 is an early release for GPS. WMS students will be released at 12:46 pm.
